In France's Provencal region, Panetieres emerged during the 1600s. Just like modern bread boxes, they shielded bread from pests and helped prevent mold by letting air flow. Except, these wooden wonders boasted intricate carvings. Our version showcases a painted and carved door, twisting posts, whimsical supports, and a carved crest and apron.
