This Antique Henri II Armoire is a splendid example of one of the classic French styles revived during the reign of the country's last monarch, Napoleon III. Rendered from French walnut, the architecture is classically inspired, and features a boldly carved crown. The intricately molded bonnet shows excellent French craftsmanship. The bonnet overlooks a beveled mirror glass full length and fitted into the door. The door opens to reveal four wood shelves and two drawers. Below the door is a full width drawer, accented with diagonal molding and a brass bale pull with guard. The corners feature half-columns fluted and turned in an urn form over a plinth block above a fluted base, with fine molding and bun feet completing the look. Circa 1890. Measures 94 in tall x 46" wide x 23" deep.
